What Is HDR Photography?

So what is HDR Photography Anyways?

HDR Photography, put simply, is the combining of multiple photos (taken at different exposures) to create one photo using the best parts of each photo taken. It’s a bit more complicated than that, but not much. HDR Photography is extremely popular in Real Estate Photography as it allows potential buyers to see what is outside the windows and shows the inside of a home in the best lighting possible as well. Let’s cut to the chase and show you a sample of what I’m talking about.

I took 5 different Aerial Drone Photos to Create this Final “HDR” Photo.

The scene above was a perfect scenario for HDR Photography. The front of the home was well lit with sunlight, but the backyard was still deep in dark shadows. HDR to the rescue!! See the 5 photos below to see the different lighting exposures I took the best parts out of to create this one photo.

As you can easily see in the photos above, not one photo showed the home, sky and deck area idealy because each area had different lighting. With the use of some HDR Photography Software, (and my own top-secret sauce!) I was able to properly showcase a home’s backyard that was in a VERY less than ideal lighting situation.
